At Gentle Breeze Dental, we take pride in helping patients look and feel their best with restorative dentistry. Dental bridges and Dental crowns Port St Lucie allow you to regain the function of your teeth while enhancing your smile and improving your overall dental health at the same time. They also help you to speak and chew properly and maintain the present shape of your face.

Crowns

When one or more of your teeth have lost a lot of their structure, we restore them with a dental crown. You may also hear us refer to this as a cap. We are likely to recommend a dental crown in the following situations:

  • To protect a decaying or otherwise weakened tooth from splitting or to hold together a tooth that has already sustained a crack.
  • To cover a dental implant, misshapen teeth, or discolored teeth.
  • As an anchor for a dental bridge.
  • To cover a tooth with a large filling or conceal a tooth that doesn’t have much structure left to it.
  • As a way to restore a tooth that is severely worn or already broken.

You have several options when it comes to choosing the material and style of your new dental crown, including those made of full porcelain or metal. Our dentists are happy to help you in the selection process.

Bridges

As its name implies, a dental bridge closes the gap between one or more missing teeth. Your new bridge requires the support of at least two anchoring teeth, called abutment teeth. We fabricate dental bridges from two or more crowns, which we then place on each side of the teeth that require repair. A dental bridge is most appropriate for people who have several consecutive missing teeth to conceal or who prefer it to crown. You may receive a traditional bridge, a cantilever bridge, or a Maryland bridge depending on the location of your missing teeth and your general oral health.

Typically, we require two appointments to place your dental bridge. At the first one, we prepare the abutment teeth by removing a small portion of enamel from each one. This enables us to place a crown over them at the second visit. We also take impressions on your teeth at the first appointment. This is necessary to provide our dental lab technicians with the information they need to create your permanent bridge. Our dentists provide you with a temporary bridge, which we remove and replace at your final fitting.
