Botox

btxc-color-taglineGentle Breeze Dental now offers facial aesthetics for patients who want to improve their smile and overall appearance. You may request a Botox injection after having a cosmetic dentistry procedure performed or schedule an appointment for the injection alone. Botox is a minimally invasive procedure approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In most cases, you can return to your normal activities immediately after the appointment. Pain during the procedure is minimal, but we can provide you with a topical anesthesia prior to inserting the small Botox needle if you prefer.

What is Botox and who is a Good Candidate for It?

Botox is a material made from botolinum toxin, a purified protein that relaxes your facial muscles when injected. Botox does not paralyze the face, contrary to common misconceptions. Doctors have used it in the treatment of lazy eye and blepharospasm, which is the medical term for the inability to move the eyelids in certain ways, for more than 50 years. The FDA has approved many new uses of Botox in the past 15 years, including treatment of migraine headaches, excess sweating, and removing frown lines and wrinkles from the face. The results of each Botox injection last between three and six months for most patients.

You may be a good candidate for the Botox procedure if you want to eliminate wrinkles and frown lines that cause you to look older than you really are. The main objective of Botox is to soften the appearance of your face. When you combine it with teeth whitening or porcelain veneers, it can dramatically improve your appearance. Some people may not even recognize you at first due to the changes. Best of all, Botox combined with cosmetic dentistry boosts your own self-confidence. You may never hold back your smile again.
